5/31/2023 0 Comments Bunny mona awad review![]() ![]() Right from the get go, we are introduced to the clique of women who are rich/privileged and call each other Bunny and live in a rainbow paradise of their own making. So willing to take a coat I’m not wearing, I almost want to give her my skin.” Mona Awad’s writing is chef’s kiss – a gold mine of metaphors and descriptions that hit all the right literary buttons. She’s basically taking the piss out of Brown and it’s pretentiousness, which was therapeutic for her? I support that. In Bunny, Samantha Heather Mackey is a 25 year old MFA student who studies at Warren, (upon investigating) which is apparently based on Brown University’s MFA program where Mona Awad studied. Some specific films that come to mind are Mean Girls, Heathers, The Neon Demon and novels like Frankenstein, The Secret History and My Sister, the Serial Killer. It combines many favourite tropes and themes of mine from horror, comedy, cult films in addition to fairy tales and the occult. I’ll have to apologise in advance because I’ll be gushing about how genius Mona Awad is throughout this review. Disclaimer: No animals were harmed in the making of this novel.īunny was one hell of a ride: to a bubblegum pink hell sort of ride. ![]()
